WHAT IS INFERTILITY?
Infertility is the inability to conceive a child after one year of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse. It can also be defined as the inability to carry a pregnancy to term.
Infertility can affect both men and women, and it is estimated that:
1. 1 in 8 couples in the United States experience infertility.
2. 15% of couples worldwide experience infertility.
3. 40% of infertility cases are attributed to male factors.
4. 40% are attributed to female factors.
5. 20% are attributed to combined male and female factors or unknown causes.
